THE STORY OF HERITAGE

ALGHABRA Parfums is a tribute to the Old City of Damascus — “The City of Jasmine” — and an homage to Mohammed Khair Alghabra, one of the pioneering Attars in the Middle East. The brand launched in July 2018 in Istanbul. Previously, founded in 1973 in the heart of ancient Old Damascus, born from a legacy of craftsmanship and passion. Mohammed Khair Alghabra was renowned for creating bespoke, hand-blended fragrances, each capturing the timeless beauty, spirit, and soul of Damascus. Damascus, commonly known as “ash-Sham” in the Arab world and fondly nicknamed “The City of Jasmine,” has long been a symbol of timeless beauty and charm. Rooted in this heritage, the brand serves as a bridge between past and present — a connection to the aesthetics of old and historical cities expressed through the art of fragrance and design. Beyond its devotion to history, the brand also captures distinctive scents inspired by the raw beauty of nature, blending cultural legacy with natural artistry.

The Founder

Pursuing his Business Administration
degree, Anas ALGHABRA (son of Mohammed Khair) relocated to Istanbul in
2013. He embraced the perfume profession from a young age, sharing his father’s passion, salesmanship, and keen ability to identify diverse scents. His ultimate goal in Turkey was to conduct extensive research to elaborate on and pay tribute to his father’s legacy and his home city.

A SCENTED DESTINY

Mohammed Khair Alghabra, known as Abu Alkhair, discovered his passion for fragrance at just eight years old while helping his brother in their perfume shop in Old Damascus. Born in 1947 into a traditional Damascene family, he was deeply influenced by his father’s love for nature and the family’s flower-filled garden. In 1973, his journey truly began with the founding of his modest perfumery, “Maa Tarat Al- Firdous” (Perfumery of Paradise), nestled in the
heart of Souq Al-Bizuriyyah, where his lifelong devotion to the art of scent took root.

A New Beginning

Upon moving to Istanbul, Anas quickly established himself as a key figure in the fine fragrance industry, initially collaborating with local companies as an exporter. His success rapidly grew: he became the distributor for AJMAL in Turkey in 2015, added the niche brand M.INT in 2018, and worked directly with luxury retailers including BEYMEN, HARVEY NICHOLS, BRANDROOM, and GALERIES LAFAYETTE ISTANBUL.
